Pinkston Outdoor Adventures and Relevant Reading classes invited Clayton Thompson, Deer Management Assistance Program Biologist from the National Deer Association, to teach students how DMAP assists hunters. He also showed them how to age a deer by using the lower jaw bone and how to score a buck by measuring their antlers. Thanks to Mr. Thompson for sharing his expertise!

#SchoolBusSafetyWeek

It's #SchoolBusSafetyWeek, and we want to share a few reminders.
School safety starts at the bus stop. 🚌 🛑 Share these tips with your children:
⌚ Arrive at the bus stop five minutes early.
🚏 Stand five giant steps away from the curb.
🚌 Wait until the bus stops, the door opens, and the driver says it’s okay before
stepping onto the bus.
👁 Be sure the bus driver can always see you, and you can see the bus driver.

Chloe Wiggins is this year's winner of the Pinkston Run With The Bulls art contest! Congratulations to Chloe!

Mrs. Perryman’s and Mrs. Corales’ 6th grade literacy classes are giving their peers book talks over their favorite books this week! They had to tell their teachers what the story was about using their objective summary format, give their audience a cliffhanger, and provide a prop that relates to the book. Their teachers say they did and AWESOME job!

Homecoming Recap -- and a reminder that we don't have school on Friday, October 25. Thursday, October 24 is an early release day and parent-teacher conferences from 1-7 p.m. https://youtu.be/5OqHLNjjJ6M

Students in Mrs. Camp's WIN extension period have been learning the following things the last few weeks:
1. Recycling/Reusing products to keep out of our landfills
2. Measuring/Reading a tape measure
3. Ratios
4. Box braiding - life skill that can be used for farm life, camping, etc., as well as crafting
5. Regular braiding
6. Weaving and the art of loom making
7. Students have made plarn (plastic yarn) and t-shirt yarn
8. Dexterity
Final products - Sleeping mats for the homeless, different styles of dog toys with several techniques, keychains, bracelets, bookmarks, etc.
Today, they even thought more creatively by developing a new technique for their square knot project. So cool!
