about 2 months ago, Jennifer Crawford
Cell phone use causes cyberbullying and affects mental health: The rise of social media exposes children to the risk of cyberbullying, contributing to anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Many children who have been cyber-bullied may only talk about their experience much later in life when the mental damage has already been done.

Child Cell Phone Use Facts:
2 months ago, Jennifer Crawford
Cell phone use leads to social isolation: Excessive screen time can hinder face-to-face social interactions, crucial for the development of communication and interpersonal skills. Seeing the world through a mobile phone may cause your child to choose to isolate themselves from friends and family. This can lead to social skills being underdeveloped and can also impact their emotional intelligence which eventually affects them in adulthood. Rather than in-person interaction, 33% of teens spend more time socializing with close friends online. 52% of teens sit for long periods in silence, on their smartphones, while hanging out with friends.
Mountain Home Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, February 20 due to inclement weather. A decision about Friday will be made at approximately the same time as today (around 4 p.m.).

Child Cell Phone Use Facts:
2 months ago, Jennifer Crawford
Cell phone use leads to reduced physical activity: The allure of digital entertainment often keeps children glued to screens, leading to a sedentary lifestyle. This lack of physical activity is associated with an increased risk of obesity and related health issues. Not to mention the effect on their posture. Some children may sit with their shoulders hunched and head bent leading to pain in the shoulders, back, neck, and more, in the long run.
Saturday, February 15 is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day! According to the National Association of School Resource Officers, there are a couple important reasons we recognize these service-oriented, kind individuals each year: - To recognize the work of SROs in keeping schools safe and building positive relationships with students, families, and communities - To show appreciation for the valuable role SROs play in the education community We LOVE our SROs, and we hope you'll take a moment to show your appreciation for their work as well!
