VFW Post 3246 Donates Toys and $4,500 to Support the Mountain Home Public School’s LT Thrift Store Christmas Wish Program

The spirit of giving was on full display today as Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3246 presented Nelson Wilks Herron Elementary School with a generous donation of toys along with a $4,500 check to support the MHHS’s LT Thrift Store Christmas Wish program. The contribution will help provide Christmas gifts for students across the entire Mountain Home School District, ensuring that children in need experience a joyful and memorable holiday season.

The donation was made on December 9 during a special presentation at Nelson Wilks Herron Elementary. Representing VFW Post 3246 were Senior Vice Commander Greg Hartman, Quartermaster Kevin Hawks, Bingo Chairman Jay Papineau and Assistant Chair Patty Papineau, and past Auxiliary President Charlotte Guest. NWH counselor Katie Criner joined them for the presentation, surrounded by a group of enthusiastic 2nd-grade “helper elves” who added holiday cheer to the event.

Mrs. Criner stated that “We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from VFW Post 3246, Their generosity directly impacts families right here in our community and helps make Christmas brighter for so many of our students.”

Special thanks were also extended to the VFW Canteen and the dedicated bingo players, whose contributions and participation make donations like this possible year after year.

The LT Thrift Store Christmas Wish program has become a cherished tradition within the district, working behind the scenes to meet student needs and spread joy during the holiday season. The donation from VFW Post 3246 will help ensure that every child referred to the program is able to receive meaningful gifts this Christmas.
